Are Dental Implants Painful? What to Expect at Each Stage
Implant placement is carried out under local anaesthetic, so you should not feel pain during the procedure itself — pressure and vibration, yes, but not pain. Afterwards it is normal to have soreness, tenderness and some swelling for a few days, usually manageable with ordinary pain relief. Pain that increases after the first two to three days instead of easing is the signal to contact the clinic rather than wait it out.
